So 50% of your time and money is wasted? Is that really fair when your marketing director/consultant/advisor still gets paid 100%.

Or how about the one that goes... "The drip effect requires your advert (or direct mail) to be in front of a prospect's eyes at least 7 times before you can expect a response!" If you still buy into that bullsh*t then who's the drip?

There are others, usually supported by statistics which are based on the successes (I'd argue that they're failures) of other textbook marketers...

"We can realistically expect a 2-3% response on this direct mail campaign - which is a fantastic success when you think the national average is only 0.7-1.0%" This figure will have been plucked out of the air too but if a surgeon reportedly had a 97% failure rate compared to the national average of 99.3% I'm still guessing you'd have your reservations.

"If we call 20 companies we'll be likely to get you 1 new meeting." Sounds too good to be true, a 5% success rate that's only 95% of my money and time wasted! :o)

"It's not rocket science!" You're telling me! Rocket scientists have a higher success rate than textbook marketers.
